The basic model was introduced in 1952 as a Mark V11, upgraded to Mark V111 and then finally in 1958 with all improvements to the spec the Mark 1X. These cars were developed over the years to become one of the first production saloons to have disc brakes, power steering and automatic gearbox and of course the well known 3.8 litre twin cam 6 cylinder engine, later to be used in the E Type. They are 100 mph luxury saloons and have a successful record in circuit racing and rallying i.e. Monte Carlo rally.
